Bringing My Watercolors Home
I couldn’t be more grateful—or more proud—to have held my first major solo exhibition in my hometown of San Fernando, Cádiz. Although I had previously participated in a few small collective shows, I had long wanted to organize something more substantial: an exhibition that reflected my most recent work, held in a dedicated art gallery, and above all, in La Isla, where I was born and raised.
The opportunity came about naturally, during a conversation with my good friend Raúl López. From there, things began to fall into place. Choosing the title for the exhibition was equally organic: all the paintings from the past two or three years shared a common thread—each one was an attempt to capture the light and color of the southern places that mean something to me. That’s how “Rincones de luz y color” (Corners of Light and Color) came to be. It felt like the perfect title for this journey through the charming corners of Andalusia that have shaped my life and artistic vision.
Beyond the artistic aspect, this exhibition became an emotional milestone. It brought together friends from all stages of my life—some I hadn’t seen in years. We laughed, reminisced about our childhood adventures, and shared stories around the paintings. Some visitors were surprised to see this artistic side of me, as they mostly knew me through my professional work in the world of sports. Others, however, weren’t surprised at all—they remembered how, even in our early school years, I was always sketching and painting whenever I had the chance.
The exhibition opened with a wonderful inaugural talk by Antonio Aparicio, President of ERA Art Gallery, along with Councillor for Culture of the San Fernando City Council, Pepa Pacheco, and my dear friend Raúl López. You can watch a recording of that moment in the video below.
I’ve also included a gallery of photos from the event: the attendees, the atmosphere, and, of course, the paintings. For me, this was far more than just an exhibition—it was a reunion, a celebration, and a very personal moment of gratitude. I feel deeply fulfilled by the experience, the warm feedback I received, and the turnout over the three weeks the exhibition was open.
Thank you to everyone who made it possible—and to everyone who came to share this special moment with me.
