Full Course Available on Blurone.es
I’m happy to share this online course I recorded some time ago with Blurone, a digital platform specialized in painting instruction. While I haven’t been painting with watercolors for very long in a “serious” and consistent way—and certainly not teaching it—I found the idea of sharing my personal approach quite exciting.
When Blurone contacted me to film a course, I saw a chance to showcase a style that is somewhat different from the more traditional watercolor methods. My technique moves away from the common wet-on-wet or loose approach and leans toward something more detailed, with strong contrast, rich colors, and a structured layering process.
What You’ll Learn
In this course, I explain my approach step-by-step, offering both technical insight and personal reflections. Here’s what you’ll find inside:
- A breakdown of my color theory basics
- A look at the materials I use and how I use them
- My personal thoughts on composition and contrast
- A full step-by-step demo, from the first sketch to the final details
- How I build layers of color to enhance light and depth
The full course includes a detailed study of one of my paintings, “La Casería”, and you’ll see all the sketches and preparatory work that went into it.

Final Thoughts
While my style might not fit neatly into the most common watercolor categories, I hope this course offers useful ideas and inspiration for artists looking for a different way to build atmosphere, contrast, and structure in their work.

Sketches and Final Painting from the Course
As part of the course, I take you through the full process of creating the painting La Casería—from the earliest concept sketches and tonal studies to the final brushstroke. These visual steps help reinforce the structure behind the technique and the decisions I make along the way.
