Where Recognition Meets Passion
Some news travels through the quiet paths of social media—and sometimes, it brings wonderful surprises. One day, through my Instagram account, I was contacted by the editor of Art & Color 365, an international art magazine based in Colorado, USA. They had discovered my watercolor work, shared kind words about it, and invited me to participate in one of their global competitions. Naturally curious, I looked into their publication before committing.
Art & Color 365 is a high-quality digital and print art magazine celebrating artists and craftsmanship from around the world. With a bimonthly publication cycle, they feature artist spotlights, curated exhibitions, home décor, fashion, and jewelry. Their art competitions are open to emerging and professional artists over 18 years old, offering a platform for international visibility and artistic growth.
Although these types of messages often turn out to be pure advertising, this time felt different. Their tone was genuine, and their publication was visually beautiful and thoughtfully curated—so I decided to give it a go.
To my surprise, a few weeks later, I received news that I had won 3rd place in their March 2023 Watercolor Competition. Not only that, but they also published a feature on my work, including a full page introducing my artistic style and background.
It’s always humbling and encouraging to receive recognition from outside your usual circles. I highly recommend these opportunities to other watercolor artists—whether local, national, or international. Competitions push us to evaluate our work with fresh eyes, see what others are doing, and connect with a broader community. I’m sincerely grateful to the team at Art & Color 365 for this recognition and support.
About the Awarded Painting
The winning piece, Calle Ancha, Cádiz. 1973, remains one of the works I’m most proud of. Over time, it has become a clear reference point for my personal style. It’s one of those rare paintings that just worked from the very beginning—no struggles, no second-guessing—just a smooth and enjoyable process that resulted in exactly what I had envisioned. Receiving recognition for this particular piece was especially meaningful to me, as it’s gratifying to know that others also connect with the works I hold dearest.
