Introduction
We live in a time when globalization is part of our everyday life, yet we’re not always fully aware of its reach. Social media has made this even more visible. The ability to connect with anyone across the globe opens up endless possibilities, especially in the world of art.
A couple of years ago, I had the privilege of catching the attention of the International Watercolor Society New Zealand (IWS NZ). Through my Instagram account, they reached out to congratulate me on my work and invited me to collaborate as a juror for their international competitions, as well as to participate in one of their virtual watercolor exhibitions.
Of course, I didn’t have to think twice. It was an honor—and a truly inspiring experience.
Serving as Juror in International Competitions
One of the most rewarding aspects of this collaboration was participating as a juror in two international watercolor contests, both organized by IWS NZ. I had the pleasure of joining a global panel of outstanding artists and experts, each bringing their own cultural and artistic perspectives to the judging process.
These competitions focused on younger generations—children and youth—with themes around the environment and the future. Judging these artworks was a humbling experience, reminding me of the universal language of creativity.
🖼️ One highlight was awarding the Judge’s Prize to a beautifully symbolic piece titled «Protect our ocean», created by the young artist Ariel Xinran Hu.

International Watercolour Exhibition – IWS New Zealand
Equally special was my participation in the “Worldwide International Watercolour Culture Exchange – New Generation Exhibition.” This virtual showcase brought together artists from around the world, offering a glimpse into the diverse watercolor styles emerging globally.

A Personal Reflection
t’s a real privilege to be able to collaborate with organizations located on the other side of the world. Thanks to the digital age, I’ve had the chance to connect with artists from New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and beyond—sharing experiences, ideas, and passion for watercolor painting.
I am deeply grateful to Coco Wing and the IWS New Zealand team for this opportunity, and I look forward to continuing this exciting artistic journey.
